Life at Maitri

A team you can actually grow with.

Maitri is a long-tenured team in Kathmandu and the US, doing real engineering for real customers — under the same managers, on the same standard, year after year. If that sounds like the kind of place you want to work, read on.

The name
मैत्री
Maitri/ My-tree /noun · Sanskrit

The name we chose carries the standard we want to be measured against. In Sanskrit, maitri is the disposition we bring to a partnership — and the way we want our people to be treated when they show up to work.

What it means in practice

Our people. Our culture. Our future—together.

We believe great work starts with a great environment. That's why we lead with people.

  • Executive Involvement

Our executive team is actively involved — visible, approachable, and committed to our people and our mission.

  • On the Ground, Often

We visit Kathmandu 4+ times a year to connect in person, listen, and stay close to our teams.

  • Mentor & Support

We invest in your growth through mentorship, resources, and real opportunities to learn and lead.

  • Transparency & Company Updates

We share regular updates so everyone is informed, aligned, and knows what's happening at Maitri.

  • Grow With Maitri

We promote from within. We're building careers, not just filling roles.

Our main focus is CULTURE.

We're building an atmosphere where you're respected, supported, and proud to belong.

What life here looks like

Twelve values, hanging on the wall.

Not slogans. These are the standards we actually use — to make calls about how the team is run, who we hire, and what "good" looks like on a Tuesday afternoon. These Values are printed and hanging on the wall of each floor of our Maitri office.

The starting point

Every value below sits on top of the meaning of maitri — the disposition we expect teammates to bring to each other.

Together · how we treat each other
  1. Drive Positive Culture

Energy is contagious. We bring the kind of energy we'd want to work next to.

  2. Build Relationships

Relationships outlast projects. We invest in the people, not just the deliverable.

  3. Prioritize your Growth

Your career is yours. Managers, mentors, and budget exist to push it forward.

  4. Follow the Golden Rule

Treat teammates the way you want to be treated. Always. With clients, too.

  5. Demand Excellence

We hold ourselves — and each other — to a real standard. Quietly, without ego.

  6. Simplify

Cut what doesn't serve the work. Clear writing, clear code, clear thinking.

How we work · operating standards
  1. Team First

Wins belong to the team. We staff for shared ownership, not solo heroics.

  2. Be Accountable

Own outcomes. When something slips, we name it early and fix it together.

  3. Take Initiative

See it, raise it, run it. Permission is implied — judgment is what we hire for.

  4. Be Optimistic

Hard problems are still solvable. We default to "let’s figure it out."

  5. Over Communicate

Clarity over cleverness. Write things down. Repeat the important parts.

  6. Celebrate Success

We mark wins — small ones too. Tenure is built on the days you remember.

Benefits

The basics, done well.

Health & wellness

Comprehensive coverage for you and your family — same standard across both countries.

Time off that's real

Generous PTO, sick leave, and the cultural permission to actually take it.

Continuous learning

Budget for courses, conferences, and certifications. Time for it on the calendar, too.

A real office, daily

We work together in the Kathmandu office — full cantina, lunch on us every day, and proper spaces to recharge. Remote when life genuinely calls for it; otherwise, we're in the room.

Modern tooling

AI coding agents, cloud development environments, and the rest of the modern stack — supplied.

Real career ladders

Defined progression, regular reviews, and managers whose job is to actually advance your career.

Hiring process

What to expect when you apply.

Five steps. Roughly two to four weeks end-to-end depending on the role and your availability.

  1. 01

    Apply

Find an open role on LinkedIn and apply! There are a few questions and an opportunity to upload your resume.

  2. 02

    Intro call

15 minutes with a recruiter or hiring manager. Two-way conversation — you should be evaluating us too.

  3. 03

    Technical work

A focused, time-boxed exercise — typically 45–60 minutes — on a real problem relevant to the role. We work through it together, not against a timer. No puzzle interviews, no weekend projects.

  4. 04

    Final conversation

An in-depth conversation with the leadership team. We'll cover the role in detail, talk through career goals and long-term fit, and leave plenty of time for your questions about Maitri.

  5. 05

    Offer & onboarding

Decision typically within a week of the final round. Onboarding pairs you with a senior teammate from day one.

Open roles

See what we're hiring for right now.

Our active job postings live on LinkedIn — engineering, QA, design, and operations roles in Kathmandu and the US. The list there is always current.

We're always building.

If you don't see a role that fits, send us your story anyway. We meet talented people constantly—engineers, EMs, operators—and we add the ones we want to work with to our Talent Pool. When the right fit opens, we reach out first.
